THE CHALLENGE

Build a revenue-generating affiliate network across four culturally distinct African markets - mostly through community.

IM Mastery Academy needed to establish a meaningful presence across Sub-Saharan Africa. Not through generic digital ads – but through locally-rooted, community-led growth that could scale while maintaining cultural relevance in each market.


As Affiliate Marketing Lead and Regional Growth Pioneer, I built the strategy, the ambassador networks, the events infrastructure, and the playbooks from scratch. This was relationship-driven, grassroots growth at scale – combining performance marketing discipline with deep community building across campuses, events, and digital channels.


The work didn’t just generate $3M+ in revenue, it produced standardized frameworks now used across the company’s international markets – making this one of the most durable outputs of the entire engagement.

Highest volume market. Leveraged Lagos and Abuja’s dense urban networks, campus ecosystems, and strong influencer culture. Anchor market for playbook development and event strategy.

WEST AFRICA EXPANSION

Adapted Nigerian playbook for Ghanaian market dynamics. Campus activations at University of Ghana and KNUST drove strong ambassador recruitment pipeline.

EAST AFRICA ENTRY

East Africa entry required distinct positioning and community approach. Nairobi’s tech and finance community became a core ambassador for this region.

Influencer-Led Video Content

Orchestrated influencer-led video campaigns using authentic voices from within each market’s community — not imported spokespeople. Content was built around real testimonials, educational value, and social proof, making it effective in high-trust, peer-driven African consumer environments. Video content fed top-of-funnel traffic directly into the affiliate conversion pipeline.

Performance marketing ran as the data backbone underneath the community-led strategy — tracking attribution across ambassador touchpoints, optimizing digital ads to amplify top-performing community content, and feeding conversion data back into ambassador enablement. Built the affiliate infrastructure that made the network manageable at 200+ ambassadors — tracking systems, attribution frameworks, payout structures, and performance reporting. This is what differentiated an ad-hoc ambassador programme from a high-performing affiliate engine with clear ROI visibility.

The network was structured deliberately — from identification and recruitment, through training and enablement, to activation, performance tracking, and renewal. Every layer had a process, a framework, and a feedback loop to keep quality consistent as the network scaled.


The playbook created to manage this network was later standardized as a global template for IM Mastery Academy’s international market operations.
